" Our family estate is located in the Strekov wine region, in South Slovakia, just a few miles North from the river Danube.etc. Our philosophy in the viticulture, as well as in the winemaking, is returning back to nature. It means that we grow our vines in an organic way and we produce our wines with traditional methods. Most of our wines are fermented and aged in oak barrels. As an effort to reflect the character of our region in our wines, we produce them without using any artificial yeasts, enzymes or any chemicals or additives.
The founder and the owner of the winery is the Mátyás family. Our history started generations ago. The knowledge of vine-growing is our family heritage, even our great-grandfathers made wines to satiate their own needs. The Mátyás Family Estate, as a company, was founded in 2003. In the first years, because of the lack of great vineyards, we had to buy the grapes from local vine-growers, but the desire to extend the quality of the grapes and the wines led to the establishment of a twelve-hectare vineyard in 2008 and 2009. The company is a family business with the next generation also involved. The family members are responsible not only for the vine-growing and wine-making but also for the marketing and sales, for the design of the labels, promotion. "
